What is Brotocol?
Brotocol is a Bitcoin-native DeFi platform that unifies Bitcoin liquidity with broader crypto ecosystems. It includes key apps like BroBridge (a BTC-to-aBTC bridge on Stacks) and BroSwap (a decentralized exchange for Bitcoin-linked assets). By converting BTC into aBTC, users can interact with DeFi tools while maintaining exposure to Bitcoin’s value and security.
Originally built with infrastructure from AlexLab and now expanded into its own system, Brotocol is operated through a decentralized validator network. It brings transparency, composability, and cross-chain functionality to the Bitcoin ecosystem.
What You Can Do with Brotocol
Bridge BTC into DeFi: Use BroBridge to convert BTC into aBTC on the Stacks chain.
Swap Bitcoin-based assets: Trade tokens like aBTC, STX, ALEX, TRIO, and others using BroSwap.
Monitor live usage: View the Explorer to track bridge and swap transactions.
Track reserves and security: Transparency is enforced through CoinFabrik-audited validator endpoints and publicly viewable reserves.
Using Brotocol with Leather
Users can connect their Leather wallet to Brotocol’s apps (like BroBridge and BroSwap) using the Leather API. This enables secure Bitcoin and Stacks wallet integration for bridging, swapping, and interacting with DeFi tools without leaving the Brotocol interface.
